Sponsored Walk - Friday 24 May

Sponsor forms must be handed in to tutors on Thursday 23 May. Sponsor forms will then be checked and signed off at the end of the walk on Friday.  The forms will be returned to students at the end of the walk.  Sponsorship monies should be collected during half term and returned, no later than Friday 7 June, with the sponsor form, to tutors in an envelope, clearly marked with your child’s name and tutor group, and the amount collected.

Students should arrive at the normal school time (8.40am) and go straight to tutor rooms to be registered.  Students must be registered at the end of the walk before going home.  Students should wear their PE uniform plus something in their House colour.

Students must remember to bring a packed lunch and drink (no fizzy drinks).  Students who receive free school meals, will have a packed lunch provided; this will be collected from the canteen by the House teams.  Students must wear appropriate footwear for walking across fields.  Please check the weather forecast – if wet, please ensure students have a waterproof jacket; if warm and sunny, please ensure students have a hat and sun cream.

All students are expected to walk unless they have a medical condition.  If your child is not walking on the day, they should report to the school library, with their equipment, where they will be supervised for the day. Students must bring a packed lunch with them as the canteen will not be open.  They will work in the Library until the end of the school day at 3.15pm.

Students may get back early from their House walk but will not be able to leave school site until 2pm. Please arrange suitable transport for your child to get home safely. If your child waits for public transport, they are welcome to wait on school site in the Eden Hall until 3.15pm.

If you have any questions about sponsored walk, please speak to your Year Team in the first instance.

Surrey Police information for Parents/Carers - 16 May 2024

East Molesey Area

We have received several reports from people with concerns about a man acting suspiciously in East Molesey. These include a report from a female resident reporting that she had been followed by an unknown man on Vine Road around midday on 7 May. She was, understandably, left extremely shaken by this incident. The man has been identified and spoken to, and no offences have been identified at this time.

However, we do take these concerns extremely seriously and have stepped up patrols in the area. We will continue to monitor the situation and will review any further information which comes to light and take appropriate action if necessary.

Please do not hesitate to report any concerns or information to us quoting SYP-20240513-0775 via:

If you do not wish to speak to police, you can call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111

Runnymede Area

We are aware of a post currently being circulated that shows photographs of nails being placed in swing seats and slides at Hythe Park.

Officers have visited Hythe Park in #Egham and are confident that these photos have not been taken there. There is no sign that the swings have been tampered with or that nails have been placed in the seats.

We appreciate the concern this will have caused within the local community and would like to reassure you that we will continue to monitor the situation and will of course advise you straight away should this situation change.

In the meantime, please continue to report any concerns to us via our webchat service or direct message. We are aware of a post... - Runnymede Beat (Surrey Police) | Facebook

Attendance

The vast majority of students have made an excellent start this year and we are delighted that most students’ attendance is looking very positive. We would like to take this opportunity to remind parents of the importance of attendance at school and remind you to please telephone the school to alert us to your child’s absence for every day that they are off. Any days which are not accounted for by you (via telephone or email) will be counted as unauthorised absence.

As per Surrey County Council guidance, we will also issue fixed penalty notices (which can lead to fixed penalty fines) for extended periods of unauthorised absence. Please see the attached letter from Surrey County Council for more information about fixed penalty fines.

If you have any queries regarding attendance at Oxted School, please do contact our attendance team (attendance@oxted.thpt.org.uk) or Miss Bergamo, Assistant Principal and Attendance Lead (alexis.bergamo@oxtedthpt.org.uk)
